Does a Husky have thick fur?

The Husky is optimally adapted to the polar regions. Its coat has two layers: the top coat, which is water-repellent and robust, and the undercoat, which consists of fine hairs. The two layers provide optimal thermal insulation, as the undercoat generates heat (friction) when the dog moves, and the top coat prevents heat loss. The Husky's paws are comparatively smaller and more compact than those of similarly sized dogs. This also counteracts heat loss and reduces the risk of injury.
