Finland 2016
Husky tour Finland, Rauhala
After the first few small adventures, I was already bitten by the husky bug. Of course, I now want to find out more about the sled dogs and experience something bigger with them. Because it is usually not possible to go on longer sled tours in Switzerland due to space constraints, I have decided to travel to Finland for a week. A dreamy husky world awaits me in the far north.
A special people
From our perspective, the Finns are a pretty special people. The people live simply but still in a modern way. In the countryside, houses are heated with a wood stove when it is minus 40 degrees, and record amounts of coffee are drunk. One of the most important things for a Finn is definitely the sauna. Babies used to be born in a sauna because it was apparently the cleanest (most hygienic) there.
Curious things
Then there are all the curious things that a Finn does. The national sport, for example, is throwing rubber boots or throwing mobile phones. So it's worth reading a book about Finland and its inhabitants. It can sometimes give you completely different ideas.
Or did you know that there are around 187,880 lakes in Finland?
